Ngombe (called also Bagando-Ngombe, Ngombe-Kaka) is a language spoken by a thousand or so people, mostly adults, clustered
around the Mambéré-Kadéï Prefecture in the Central African Republic. Its classification in overview sources is unclear; it
may be related to either Baka (Ubangian) or Bangandu (Gbaya), which are not demonstrably related to each other. Most sources
list it as a dialect or ethnic name for one or the other without providing comparative data. Moñino (2010) appears to show
it on a map of Gbaya languages, but does not mention it by name or provide any data; Ethnologue classifies it as Baka but
says it may instead be related to and mutually intelligible with Gbaya. |
