Bara is a Malagasy dialect spoken by the Bara people in southern Madagascar, roughly the regions Ihorombe and Atsimo Andrefana. Neighbouring dialects include Tandroy, Tanosy, Mahafaly, Vezo, Tesaka, Tefasy, Temoro, Betsileo, and Masikoro. There is some literature written about Bara, for instance Elli's Bara-Italian illustrated dictionary, now sold out.
